Summer Vacation report

So vacation was freaking awesome. I'm finally getting to writing this little blog. My flight to Minneapolis was just fine. When i got to the airport i was able to upgrade to first class. That was probably one of the best things i have ever done when flying. I was kind of nervous about flying on Sun Country airlines. But the flight went great and those nice big seats and food were great for the red eye flight. When i got to the airport i ended up having to walk a long ways to get my rental car. In fact my car was at another terminal. I had to hop on a train that actually goes to downtown Minneapolis.

After getting to the Main terminal i found the Budget rental counter I'm ready to get my car and find a freaking Starbucks. The guy behind the counter says oh we don't have your car for you. I'm thinking oh freaking great. I've been through this before in Vegas and it sucked i waited for a long time to get a car. But this time the guy behind the counter says i will up grade you to a 2007 mustang a no extra charge. I'm like hell yeah and I'm off to Brainerd for 5 days.

After driving Two hours north to Brainerd in made it to my friends house on North Long Lake in Brainerd. I thought i had died and gone to heaven. I was so beautiful there i knew i didn't ever want to leave. Every morning i would get up i would walk down to the dock and sit back relax and enjoy the sunrise on the lake. The weather was great probably in the mid 80's to low 90's with no humidity. One thing about the race in Brainerd is the Zoo. The Zoo is the camping area at the track that is just one crazy party all weekend long. I was told that there were over 8,000 people in the zoo that weekend. I know i had to be wild as we could here the live rock bands and people screaming and being wild all night long. On Saturday of that weekend they had one of the best fireworks shows i have seen in years.

After my five days in Brainerd i was on my way to spend the night in downtown Minneapolis. I was on my way to see the Twins take on the Yankees in the Metrodome. My hotel the holiday inn Metrodome was very nice. I get up to my room and I'm relaxing for a few minutes. Then i want to take a look out the window. I then notice that my room faces the I-35 interstate bridge that had collapsed all most one year to the day. It was kid of weird watching the construction workers out there working. Knowing people had died. It looks like they are getting pretty close to finishing up on the bridge.

The game was pretty good the twins won 3-0. I can see why the Twins want a new stadium. I felt like i was sitting in a theatre i was very steep and the seats were very close together. I'm not a big guy but even to me it was a tight fit. The new park is taking shape and looking great check out some more pics here http://www.twinsballpark2010.com/baseball/minnesota-twins/stadium/Home.html.

The day after the the twins game i was on my way home for one day. I had the day at home to wash clothes and pack once again. I wanted to fly from Minnesota to So-Cal but it was cheaper for me to fly home then fly to Cali. I made it to Burbank airport with no problems my rental car was waiting for me and it was off to the Marriott hotel in Monrovia,Ca

Friday morning i packed up early and headed to Del Mar for my yearly trip to the horse track. But first i stopped in Dana Point to visit a nice Little coffee and doughnut shop. I was highly recommend to me by the PR guy who does work for Del Worsham on the NHRA tour. Boy was he right the Apple Fritter doughnut i had was huge and tasted great. Not only that i had one of the Mango/banana drinks and it was great. So if you find yourself in Dana Point i give it a two thumbs up. It's on the left side of the split heading north on the Pacific coast highway if your in Dana Point.

My day at Del Mar was OK this year. I didn't really make any money. I did have a great time and made a few new friends for the day with the guys sitting next to me at the track. The weather was in the mid 80's with a nice breeze from the sea.

Saturday I spent the day at Irwindale Speedway The Camping World West race was at the track for the night. I went down in the pits just to see a few officials and maybe a few drivers i might know. But before i could even find anyone i found myself getting a autograph from Alex Castro. I had no idea who this guy was. I found out he is on the American Gladiator show and goes by the name Militia on the show.

He signed his pic Gordon eat well and train hard Alex. It was pretty funny since i don't eat well and don't even think about training. OK i do think about training but I'm to lazy to do anything about it.

The race went good and was won by Jason Bowles. Jeff Barkshire from Auburn came home second. He had a great race it was nice to see a driver from Washington do good. My last day i finally made it to Bob's Big Boy after all my trips to I had the bacon burger and Vanilla milk shake. Holy cow was it great and i will make sure to go back again in January. I look for Dr. Evil but didn't see him there.

That's it for now will try and get back to this blog by Sunday.
