Turtle races

My best bud Aaron and i are heading down to LA in January for the Toyota all-star race at Irwindale Speedway. There will be lots of racing at the track friday night and Saturday night. I'm trying to find lots of things to fit into our weekend down there. We will only be the Thursday thru Sunday morning. Aaron has to be back to work Monday. He owns his own Mission Tortilla route. He has someone to cover thursday friday and saturday.

After some looking around i finally found the bar that has turtle races. It's in Marina Del Ray kind of down by the LAX airport area. If you ever watched Rob & Big on MTV then you have seen the bar http://www.brennanspub-la.com/racing.htm. I'm sure we can get my good friend Carolyn who lives in the LA area to come down with us to watch and have a 1 or 2 or a half dozen beers with us. They only race on Thursday's so this is happening the first night we get to town.

Friday afternoon i haven't really planned much. i need to do some looking around to find something to do. I might see if Aaron wants to see the Peterson Museum. The Peterson Museum. Has one of the best car collections around in the world. Friday night we will be at Irwindale Speedway for Qualifying and a couple main events.

Saturday We will head over to Santa Anita horse track. I just found out the other day that. the 24Th of January is the Sunshine Millions day at the track. It should be a great day and a pretty good crowd. the series of races called the Sunshine Millions are restricted to horses bred either in Florida or in California and is the brainchild of the Thoroughbred Owners of California, the California Thoroughbred Breeders' Association, the Florida Thoroughbred Breeders' and Owners' Association, Inc., Santa Anita Park, Gulfstream Park, and Magna Entertainment Corporation.

Saturday night we head back over to Irwindale for day two of the races. Sunday we have a early flight back home at 8:30 am. The flight to LA is only 169 round trip the rental car is going to be 125 and the hotel is 99 bucks a night. So this is a quick trip but should be lots of fun. It's been 41/2 years since Aaron and i have been on a trip. I'm just happy Andrea is letting him go. We had so much fun last time i won't even go into details. January 22ND won't get here soon enough.

The Bouncy House

Well i need to update this blog thing. Lets go back a few weeks to my trip to Vegas. I love the city of Las Vegas so much to o and always never enough time. I was there to attend to NHRA drag races. The races were great as they almost always are. I was able to take tons of great pics from my seats and the starting line. Oh there is my favorite driver Hillary Will.

Now for the gambling part i did pretty good. I made most of my money on nickel and penny machines. the roulette Wheel was OK for me. I made enough money to pay for my rooms all my food and tips for the weekend. I came back home with exactly what i left. Not sure when my next trip will be to Vegas but i hope it' around June or July of 2009.

Sunday will be my best buddies daughters 5Th birthday. I just can't believe she is 5 already. I bought her the movie WALL-E . I really like this movie when i saw it. I'm sure she will like it also. Here birthday party is at http://www.thebouncyplace.com/ . I'm sure this will be lots of fun and lots of pain for me.

Now a couple of little rants. while at the airport in Vegas i noticed more then a few idiots. When you are going through screening take out all your bleeping change, You also take out cell phones and belts buckles. I want to beat some folks over the head. Dang people figure it out what part of metal detector do you not get. duh

Rest in Peace Tuba Man

I was going to write some things down from my Vegas trip. But this morning as i was reading the Seattle Pi i saw some upsetting news. The Tuba man has died. He was someone i always looked forward to seeing when i went to the t-birds games. He would sometimes come inside and watch the games. He always seemed to make the games even better to watch when he was there. I hope they catch the punks who caused his death. Here's a link to the story http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/jamieson/386267_robert04xx.html Rest in Peace tuba i will miss you.

It's a beautiful day again.

With the breeders cup coming up this Friday and Saturday i thought i would post some of my favorite races. Singeltary named after the great Chicago bears player and now the coach of the San Fransico 49er's. This was a great race for me as i made some good money. For some reason i liked this horse early in the 2004 year. He always seemed to do great when i watched him race. He was also a turf horse and i really like turf races over dirt.

The world series starts tonight. I will be pulling for the Phillie's. I think a good part of the Northwest will be hoping for the Phillis to win. Jaime Moyer the long time Mariner starts game 3 on Saturday.

I'm not really sure what drives me to watch two tv shows. Almost every Monday i end up watching Little people big world and Jon and Kate plus 8.I have been watching these shows for sometime now. I will say it's cool to see the six little Gosselin kids grow up.

I have bought my Halloween costume. I'm going to be a Big Daddy. That's what the costume says. I say it's more of a pimp looking outfit which should be great for Vegas. There's picture floating around out there some place i will be sure to get that up someday soon.

Our sports teams

Here's my tickets for the upcoming race in Vegas. Nice picture of Kurt Johnson's protstock car spinning the tire's.

Whats the deal with our sports teams. All the teams this year suck. The Mariners 101 bleeping losses, the Seahawks 1 win, the Huskies no win, the Cougars 1 win against Portland state. The Sonics oh they moved to some loser city in the middle of the nation. Hey Gordo you like hockey don't you. Yes i do oh the bleeping t-birds suck this year also. I guess there is college basketball starting pretty soon go Huskies and Zags. I don't ask for much from the sports teams. I want them to win of course but i want to enjoy watching the games and this year has sucked for watching and kind of games.

Greg Biffle moved up to second place in the Sprint Cup standings for the Nascar boy's. I'm hoping the Biff can pull out the title this year but it's not looking good right now. When Greg raced up here some years ago you just knew he would make it big time. Go Biff Go
Still no costume for Halloween. I have been sick for the past week and just haven't gone out to get anything. I will get something the Friday for sure. 10 days till Vegas yahoo.
Just noticed a story about my favorite Top Fuel Driver Hillary Will check it out

Breeders Cup 2008

It's two weeks till the Breeders cup horse races. The races are at Santa Anita horse track this year and next.I really wanted to go to the horse races. When i got my ticket info i just threw it away in the garbage. They wanted 500.00 dollars for each seat with a decent view of the track.Maybe next year the will lower the price of the tickets. I have been to Santa Anita a few times. It's a great track over looking the San Gabriel mountains in Southern California. If you have seen the movie Seabiscuit then you have seen the track.
The breeders Cup is probably the second biggest weekend in horse racing. I would have to say that the Kentucky Derby weekend is the only race that would be bigger. I will just watch from home and place some bets on the computer. Oh well maybe next year.

Today i received my tickets for the drag races in Vegas. I'm sitting in Platinum Club row 36 seat 3. I was hoping for row 34 or 35. But this seat is fine it's the same one i had last year. I did purchase tickets for the Bullring to see some race at the short track. I have a buddy who used to live up here that works at that track. He's going to get my buddy Marshall and i in the pits to watch the races. Pit passes sell for 40 bucks so Larry is saving us 20 bucks.

I haven't picked out a Halloween costume for Vegas yet. I just can't figure out what i want to dress up as. I need to figure out something soon.

I started feeling sick when i got home this morning from work. I'm just trying to relax and enjoy the afternoon. I have been drinking some tea and might take some old medicine later if I'm not feeling better. I would hate to be sick one my one day off tomorrow. that would just plain well you figure it out.

October baseball

Well the first week of October is almost over. Baseball playoffs are now into the second round. I really have been paying close attention to the games this year. Maybe it's because the Mariners suck and i haven't seen any good games this year. I did make it to a couple of baseball games this year only one of those was a Mariner game. I did see the Dodgers and Phillie's and the Twins and Yankees. I'm hoping for a Phillie's and Ray's match up in the world series.
The picture today is from Del Mar, Ca taken from the third level of the horse track. There's nothing like watching the races with a nice ocean breeze coming in. Until i find something better this will probably be one of my summer vacation visits. I always enjoy myself down there . it's just a great time every summer. This was my fourth summer to Del Mar.

As i type this blog the puck is about to drop on NHL hockey season. There has been a few games played already this year. Those games were played over in Europe. The first North American games start tonight. I'm pulling for the San Jose Sharks this year once again.

The T-Birds are off to a rough start 1-5 going into tomorrow nights match up with the EveRATT Silvertips. They did get a couple guys back from the NHL training camps this week. I'm hoping for a quick turn around or it could be a long season.

The NHRA races in Richmond this weekend. That means fours weeks till the Vegas race for me yahoo.

One last weekend of soccer for my favorite four year old. It looks like the weather will be sunny but cold. I wouldn't make it to he last two games so I'm really looking forward to the game Saturday.

Amazing race and another b-day

Today's pic is from one of my many trips my to Twin Falls,Idaho. Mount Rainier looked great the day i took this picture.

Happy birthday to my brother Michael. I hope to get to talk to him tonight. I don't get to talk to him to much or see him for that fact. He lives out in Spokane and doesn't make it home to much.

It's also my best buds Aaron's birthday today. He is working today poor guy. He doesn't really have a choice though. He owns his own Mission tortilla route. There isn't anyone to do his route for him so he's out there working today. I told him have Madison do it for him. I don't think that would go over to well with his wife.

The 13Th season of amazing race started on Sunday. I'm hoping for a better season then last year. In the first episode the bee keepers Anita and Arthur from Oregon were eliminated. Part of me was pulling for them. The other part was pulling for the Southern Belles Marisa and Brooke. Guess i only have to root for the Southern Belles now. I'm not sure if they have what it takes to win the one million dollars.

The only other show i will really watch will be Pushing Daisies. It's been about nine months and I'm looking forward to the new season.

If Greg bleeping Anderson wants to win his fourth pro stock title he better get his act together next week in Richmond,Virgina. He had no excuse for his first round loss. Poor Del Worsham had a bad weekend. He didn't qualify for the race in Funny Car. I hope he makes the last three races and maybe can pull off a win for his team. In Top Fuel my favorite girl Hillary Will made it to the semi finals before losing to that Tony Schumacher guy. She hasn't beat him this year. Sometimes you just don't have any kind of luck against another driver. I hope she beats him next time they meet on the track.

Soccer was great Saturday. Madison has improved so much from the first week. I think all the girls have improved so much on her team. It's really amazing to see the 4-5 years come together as a team. Madison hasn't scored a goal yet but she's getting really close.

Oh and congrats to my favorite f-1 driver Fernando Alonso for winning first night race in history. He won the race in Singapore this past Sunday. He was dubbed the Prince of Darkness after his win.

I dislike the fall & winter Happy birthday to the Boss

Why can't every day be 75 with a nice breeze. The older i get the crankier i have become with the weather around here. Here's what Dictionary.com has to say about dislike. to regard with displeasure, antipathy, or aversion: I dislike working. I dislike oysters.

Well i truly dislike the fall and winter times. I have been pretty close to just packing up my stuff getting a U-haul and moving to San Diego. It's almost always 75 with a nice breeze and great beaches to hang out at. If any tells me we have nice beaches here i just about die with laughter. that's all I'm going to say about fall and winter for now.

Happy Birthday today to Bruce Springsteen. He's 59 and still kicking butt. Everyone has a favorite song mine is The Streets of Philadelphia.

The T-birds opened up the season this past Friday and Saturday. They had a 10 or so bus trip to Prince George,BC. They lost both games which bummed me out a little bit. It's still early in the season of course. Lets see how things turn out this weekend as they still are on the road against Tri-Cites Friday and the The Everett Trailer Park team Saturday night. First home game isn't till the 4th of October against Spokane. Go Birds.

Bob Wilber who is the Pr/ Team Manager for Del Worsham's Nhra funny car team will be out of a job when the season ends. I have become a big fan of the CSK team. Checkers/Shucks/ Kragen was sold to O'REILLY auto stores this year. They decided to keep on sponsoring race and local racing series. So that means Del's team was looking for a sponsor. A great opportunity came along for Del to race for Allan Johnson next year. Del took the offer how could you not. Now Bob is out of a job at the end of the racing season. My gut says he won't be out of a job for long. He does a great job from what i can tell. Is a great guy in person. He even gave some great tips for my trip to Minneapolis this summer. I hope he lands with a great team or some place that will make him happy. Go to the Nhra web site and look for team CSK racing blog.

I will be attending another soccer game this weekend. From what I've been told the team has really improved in the last 10 days or so. They scored 5 goals which is way better then the 0 they scored the first time. I'm hoping Madison scores a goal. If she doesn't I'm hope she just has fun playing soccer. I wish i could get my nieces and nephew's to play sports. Oh well i enjoy going to Maple Valley to see my best bud and his family.

The picture up top is Madison and me at Skagit Speedway last summer. We had tons of fun that night laughing at her dad.

Fear the Paddle

The University Of Maryland has a saying. Fear the Turtle. Well i also have a saying Fear the paddle.
This Saturday i will be breaking out my old table tennis paddle. Keven is having a BBQ and has bought a table tennis table.I haven't played in about 12 years. I used to pay everyday at the boy's and girls club in Monroe. My dad used to run Boy's and girls clubs all over Snohomish County. I'm not sure what it was about table tennis but i took it up and enjoyed it. I'm no Forrest Gump but i can hold my own.
On a different note I'm about six weeks away from going to Vegas. I will be attending the NHRA AC DELCO Nationals at the strip. I'm once again staying at the MGM Grand. It's not my favorite hotel but it's the hotel get the best deals. I'm hoping to see Hillary Will and some other driver at the Palms hotel the Thursday before the races. I have some great pics i have taken the last few years and hope to get them signed.

Another kid to spoil

Well i will be on my way to the hospital here pretty soon. My good friends Aaron & Andrea will be having a baby girl today. Andrea's due date was this past Friday. The other day Andrea sent me a e-mail saying she wasn't waiting any longer and said they would have the baby Tuesday. Last night Aaron called and said they would be at the hospital at 11am.

So i will be heading over anytime now to hang out till the next new addition comes to their family. They have picked the name of Ashlen not sure if i spelled that right. I'm also sure her big sister Madison is ready to help mom out as soon as mom say it's ok.

Summer Vacation report

So vacation was freaking awesome. I'm finally getting to writing this little blog. My flight to Minneapolis was just fine. When i got to the airport i was able to upgrade to first class. That was probably one of the best things i have ever done when flying. I was kind of nervous about flying on Sun Country airlines. But the flight went great and those nice big seats and food were great for the red eye flight. When i got to the airport i ended up having to walk a long ways to get my rental car. In fact my car was at another terminal. I had to hop on a train that actually goes to downtown Minneapolis.

After getting to the Main terminal i found the Budget rental counter I'm ready to get my car and find a freaking Starbucks. The guy behind the counter says oh we don't have your car for you. I'm thinking oh freaking great. I've been through this before in Vegas and it sucked i waited for a long time to get a car. But this time the guy behind the counter says i will up grade you to a 2007 mustang a no extra charge. I'm like hell yeah and I'm off to Brainerd for 5 days.

After driving Two hours north to Brainerd in made it to my friends house on North Long Lake in Brainerd. I thought i had died and gone to heaven. I was so beautiful there i knew i didn't ever want to leave. Every morning i would get up i would walk down to the dock and sit back relax and enjoy the sunrise on the lake. The weather was great probably in the mid 80's to low 90's with no humidity. One thing about the race in Brainerd is the Zoo. The Zoo is the camping area at the track that is just one crazy party all weekend long. I was told that there were over 8,000 people in the zoo that weekend. I know i had to be wild as we could here the live rock bands and people screaming and being wild all night long. On Saturday of that weekend they had one of the best fireworks shows i have seen in years.

After my five days in Brainerd i was on my way to spend the night in downtown Minneapolis. I was on my way to see the Twins take on the Yankees in the Metrodome. My hotel the holiday inn Metrodome was very nice. I get up to my room and I'm relaxing for a few minutes. Then i want to take a look out the window. I then notice that my room faces the I-35 interstate bridge that had collapsed all most one year to the day. It was kid of weird watching the construction workers out there working. Knowing people had died. It looks like they are getting pretty close to finishing up on the bridge.

The game was pretty good the twins won 3-0. I can see why the Twins want a new stadium. I felt like i was sitting in a theatre i was very steep and the seats were very close together. I'm not a big guy but even to me it was a tight fit. The new park is taking shape and looking great check out some more pics here http://www.twinsballpark2010.com/baseball/minnesota-twins/stadium/Home.html.

The day after the the twins game i was on my way home for one day. I had the day at home to wash clothes and pack once again. I wanted to fly from Minnesota to So-Cal but it was cheaper for me to fly home then fly to Cali. I made it to Burbank airport with no problems my rental car was waiting for me and it was off to the Marriott hotel in Monrovia,Ca

Friday morning i packed up early and headed to Del Mar for my yearly trip to the horse track. But first i stopped in Dana Point to visit a nice Little coffee and doughnut shop. I was highly recommend to me by the PR guy who does work for Del Worsham on the NHRA tour. Boy was he right the Apple Fritter doughnut i had was huge and tasted great. Not only that i had one of the Mango/banana drinks and it was great. So if you find yourself in Dana Point i give it a two thumbs up. It's on the left side of the split heading north on the Pacific coast highway if your in Dana Point.

My day at Del Mar was OK this year. I didn't really make any money. I did have a great time and made a few new friends for the day with the guys sitting next to me at the track. The weather was in the mid 80's with a nice breeze from the sea.

Saturday I spent the day at Irwindale Speedway The Camping World West race was at the track for the night. I went down in the pits just to see a few officials and maybe a few drivers i might know. But before i could even find anyone i found myself getting a autograph from Alex Castro. I had no idea who this guy was. I found out he is on the American Gladiator show and goes by the name Militia on the show.

He signed his pic Gordon eat well and train hard Alex. It was pretty funny since i don't eat well and don't even think about training. OK i do think about training but I'm to lazy to do anything about it.

The race went good and was won by Jason Bowles. Jeff Barkshire from Auburn came home second. He had a great race it was nice to see a driver from Washington do good. My last day i finally made it to Bob's Big Boy after all my trips to I had the bacon burger and Vanilla milk shake. Holy cow was it great and i will make sure to go back again in January. I look for Dr. Evil but didn't see him there.

That's it for now will try and get back to this blog by Sunday.

baseball baseball and more baseball

Looks like I'll see three Major league games in the next 10 days in three different state. I was invited to sit in a suite tomorrow night for the Mariners and Twins game. Then on Monday the 11Th I'm going to see the twins and Yankee's game at the metrodome. Just a few days later I'll be watching the Dodgers and the Phillies player each other in Los Angeles. The last game I'm really hoping Jamie moyer is pitching. I really do miss watching him play. It's been over a year since i was at a Mariners game. They played the White Sox and won. It was a day game and a pretty cold one at that.

This is Ichiro's first at bat of the day. A couple of things i remember is that there were two really huge Ichiro fans right in front of me. they would go crazy when he came to bat. They had signs and would make all kinds of noise. They also had those disgusting garlic fries man those stink. Also there was this lady who would keep yelling out hey BIG SEXY every freaking time Richie Sexson came to bat. It was funny the first time then got really old the rest of the game.

the final countdown.

It's almost time for vacation part 2. I have three days of work left Sunday thru Tuesday. Then I'm off to Minnesota. Most everything is ready to go. I was able to get a great car rental deal that should cost just over 200.00 for 5 days. Have all the direction printed out. Room reservation for last night in downtown Minneapolis is confirmed.

I will be staying in the town of Brainerd, MN http://www.brainerd.com/. I'm really looking forward to the 27Th annual Lucas oil NHRA nationals. I will be staying with some racing friends for the first 4 nights. The last night i will be in downtown Minneapolis at the Holiday next to the Metrodome. I will be attending the Twins vs Yankees game my last night in town. I'm also going to try to visit St Paul the capitol of Minnesota.
My only wish this vacation is to finally meet Hillary Will. This is her dragster from the Seattle race just a few weeks ago. If i don't get a chance to meet her i want her to at least win the race.

I come home late Tuesday the 12Th wash my clothes then on Thursday the 14Th head to SO-Cal for my yearly trip to Del Mar . My hotel in So-cal is a great place just outside of Los Angeles. At 99.00 a night its a great deal for the hotels in that area. Thursday i think I'm going to a Dodgers game Friday down to Del Mar Saturday Irwindale speedway Sunday no plans Monday the 18Th come home.
Then it will be back to work yuck. check out this youtube video from Del Mar http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=94mXkaIxceM

nothing new well maybe i can find something.

It's been way to long since my last blog. So I'll start with the picture from the NHRA drag races from this past Sunday. This is from the pro stock finals. Allen Johnson far lane vs Jason Line near lane. Jason ends up with the win but just by the hair of his chinny chin chin.
The weather was awesome in the 80's all day long. My good buddies Marshall and Aaron went with me. I was on the hunt for Hillary Will. I had no luck tracking her down. I'll try harder in a few when I'm in Brainerd,Mn. I did finally get to meet Bob Wilber from the CSK funny car team. Bob is the team manager and pr guy for the team. He also has a great blog that i enjoy visiting any time i get a chance. He not only talks about the race team but also whats going on around his house and life. Bob was once a baseball player on many minor league teams. His dad was a former major league player Del Wilber who hit three home runs in one game on three pitches. He also was a manager in Tacoma one season when the Twins had their AAA ball team there.Check out his blog http://blogs.nhra.com/nhrablogs.asp?blog=csk.
On a different note the Friends of James O'Neal are still raising money for his surgery and recovery. James is a great guys from what i know. I Don't know James personally but do know him from going to the races in Monroe. He also comes into work from time to time. I'm putting up a link to a website for James http://friendsofjamesoneal.blogspot.com/
Two weeks from today I'll be in Minnesota for the drag races and to visit another state on my list. The closer i get to the date the more excited i am. While i haven't been to that many states someday i hope to visit them all. I have been to Georgia, Arizona, Nevada, California, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Colorado, in Colorado in only visited the Denver airport so that really doesn't count of course. I will make sure i have a full report when i get back.
I think next summer i want to visit the east coast. Not sure how i will go about it but I'm sure i can find a way to visit 5 or 6 states.
I was supposed to be in Las Vegas this week. But my good friend Carolyn ran into some problems and had to cancel her trip. I wasn't really to bummed as i have been to Vegas many many many times. I will be there in October for sure for the drag races. Tickets and room at the MGM Grand are already booked. . The weekend I'm there will be Halloween. I'm still trying to figure out what i should dress up as. Maybe the cookie monster, Elmo, a pimp or maybe something else. I still have time to figure it out thank goodness.
That's it for now.

Oh sunny days are here again

Well that title is only going to last a few days. the last two days have been very nice.

Today's picture is from the Disneyland. Me in some Minnie Mouse ears. There is something about that place that makes you do crazy things. Of the places I've been this is one of my favorite places to go. I really miss it and can't wait to go back someday soon.

Went to see the movie Kung fu Panda yesterday. I give it two thumbs up. It was very funny i really did enjoy it with my co-workers.

I'm looking forward to this weekend. Skagit Speedways Dirt Cup is taking place i'll be going on Saturday night. I haven't been to Skagit Speedway since last year. Watching those sprint cars make passes is pretty darn cool. I will be going with my good buddy Aaron and his daughter Madison. I'm sure lots of goofing around and coloring will take place during the night with the girl.

We didn't have a triple crown winner in horse racing this year. I was kind of bummed out i thought Big Brown had a chance but it wasn't to be, I didn't get to see the race. I was at Pacific Raceways for the ASA Northwest tour race on the road course. It was a long day at the track that day as the weather sucked for most of the day. Gary Lewis won the race which was called to darkness. I did win a pair of NHRA tickets to the races here in July which i had planned on going to already. Now i don't have to buy tickets and that made the day alot better.

The other day i went out to Costco and joined. I'm hoping i can get something out of it. So far i think it's going to work out. I have only had one trip but it was a good one.

That's it for now hope everyone has a great week.

A boring thursday.

Well it's a boring Thursday today. Just tied up some lose ends on vacation plans. All i need to dp now is rent a few cars and I'll be all done. MY final plans changed a Little bit. July18Th-24Th I'll be here for the first couples days to attend the NHRA races, Then on the morning of the 21st i fly out to Vegas to hang out with my good friend Carolyn. She hasn't been to Vegas in 20 years so this should be lots of fun. A good former co-worker of mine Jason will also be in Vegas that week. I plan on meeting up with him when Carolyn heads home that Tuesday night. I don't leave till Thursday.

Before i go on the picture today is of Mike Neff. He is a funny a driver for John force racing. I love this pic it looks like he's looking right at me. But what you don't see is all the press guys that are right behind me. How did i get so close for drive intro's. Well it was part of my ticket package. I have to say the ticket weren't cheap 325.00 for three days. But out parking spot was awesome are seats were awesome and we had some great meals in this tent area. Plus if we wanted beer or pop we could go down to the tent and get them for cheaper then what the general public was paying. We also could go down close to the starting line to see the cars take off. It really was a fun weekend in Vegas.

Back to Vacation plans i get home from Vegas the 24Th of July. Go back to work on the 25Th work till August 6Th. The at 11;55 on the 6Th i head out to Minneapolis, Mn to see some racing friends and go to the drag races in Brainerd ,Mn two hours north of Minneapolis. I get into Minneapolis at 5am. There better be a Starbucks right around the corner I'm going to need one. i head home on the 12th. But before i head home i hope to catch a twins game. They will be playing the Yankees and if it works out i will be there to see the game.

My flight home leaves at 1pm and I'll be home at 3pm of so. then i wash my clothes pack my bags and head to the airport on Thursday the 14Th for my annual trip to so-cal. I'll get to see my friends Carolyn her mom Joanie and lots of racing. I'll be going to Irwindale speedway for the Camping World west race. Also will be at my favorite place the Del Mar horse track. I truly look forward to this trip every year. I come home that Monday and head back to for Thursday morning the 21st.

I'm going to finish today's blog with a picture of my good buddies daughter Madison. This is from a few weeks ago at her t-ball game. It was a ton of fun watching her play. I'll be back next week to talk about the chance of there being a triple crown winner this year in horse racing.

Happy Mothers day

It's been well over a month since my last post. I'll try and see if i can come up with anything new from last month. I did make final vacation plans for the summer. July 21st-24 I'll be in Vegas. My good friend Carolyn who lives in California will be joining me down there. we will be celebrating both of our birthdays. hers is in July mine is in August. July 18Th-20Th I'll be at Pacific Raceways for the NHRA drag races. Then in August I'm fly out to the twin cites area for more drag racing. I'll be in Brainerd, Minn from the 7Th of August-12. then i fly down to So-Cal for racing over at Irwindale Speedway and for some horse racing at Del Mar fairgrounds. So far airfare has been so so. 218.00 to Vegas 229.00 for so-cal and it looks like 460.00 to fly back to the Midwest.

Tomorrow afternoon I'll be heading down to the great city of Maple Valley. What could i be doing down there. Well I'll be at my first t-ball game to see my good Buddy's daughter Madison play. Madison is a great little girl and i enjoy playing and coloring with her anytime i see her.she is so funny when we play i either the gordster or a big goober. I go with big goober but I'm not telling her.

Last the picture above is of Doug Herberts Snap on tools top fuel dragster from April 2007. Earlier this year Doug lost both of his sons to a car wreck back in North Carolina. Doug along with his sons fellow classmates have started a website http://putonthebrakes.com/ . Even though this site is geared more towards high school kids i think it a great site for everyone to visit and remember just to take it easy on the road. That's it for now

Happy playoff day part Duece

Tonight begins round two of the whl playoffs. Seattle takes on the Tri City Americans. This is going to be a tough series for the boys from the west side of the mountains. But i have faith in the and think they can pull off at least one win this weekend.

Today's picture is from this past summer at the drag races in Kent, WA. My best bud Aaron, Three time NHRA Pro Stock Champion Greg Anderson and myself looking like a dork with my bag and cell phone.

I have booked a room at the MGM grand for July 21ST -24Th. Was able to get a room for 59 bucks a night. I haven't been to Vegas in the summer months in a few years. I can't wait to get down there when it 115 degrees outside. The hotter the better for me. The MGM is opening a new pool area for adults this month. This is from one of my favorite web sites on all things Vegas http://www.vegastodayandtomorrow.com/index.htm Here is what they have to say about the new pool at the MGM Grand. Wet Republic, Vegas' first "Ultra-Pool", will open in late April of 2008. Wet republic is an adults only, 53,000-square foot addition to the existing pool area. Wet republic will be an all-day pool party, featuring a club, cabaƱas, waterfalls, eight pools (including two salt water pools), a restaurant and an open air lounge. Sorry guys, there will not be a topless area.

Sounds like a great time to me just another thing to do when in Vegas.

Now this up coming weekend is the 750,000 Santa Anita derby. It's the last major prep race in Southern California for three year old horses that want to go to the Kentucky Derby. I'm looking forward to watching the races tomorrow. But even better is that there's only two weeks till Emerald downs opens and 102 day till Del Mar opens.

One last thing Congrats goes out to Del Worsham in the team CSK funny cars for his first win in two and a half years. I' have become a fan of Del's this past summer. While most folks root for team Force i thought i would find someone else to root for. I have not meet Del yet but look forward o the day when i get a chance.

It's a snowing out there

What a day it turned out to be. The morning started out just fine. It was a little cold but nothing really to bad. Then around 11am or so it started snowing. It really didn't stick around to much but you almost never see snow at the end of March.

Today's picture is once again from Del Mar fairgrounds in Del Mar,Ca. this is one of my favorite pics i have taken. The horse racing season is really getting underway now. there's prep races almost every week. Her is a link to the current top horses of 2008 http://www.bodoglife.com/horse-betting/triple-crown/kentucky-derby/contenders.jsp

Emerald Downs opens April 18Th. This will be my 5Th year going on opening day. I'm truly looking forward to the day. I wish i was a better handicapper. But I'm always learning and having a great time at the track.

Now to some really good news. The Thunderbirds are on a roll. After having been down 2 games to 0 in the playoffs they have come back to win 3 games in a row. They have been playing a great game on the ice. They still need one more win to take the series. Lets go Birds.

Happy Playoffs Day

Today's picture is taken from Del Mar Fairgrounds . Del Mar is one of my favorite places to visit. As you can see it right next to the Pacific Ocean. I hope to move down there someday soon. I should just pack up and move tomorrow that how much i want to be down there. But i think I'll stick it out here for a little while longer. If you have never been to Del Mar i say go and visit when you get a chance. It's just 20 miles or so north of San Diego, Ca

Tonight is the first round of the whl hockey playoff season. The t-birds take on the Kelowna Rockets. I was hoping for a Seattle/ Everett series. But Everett tanked it at the ended of the year and finished 6th in the conference. The t-birds are 3-1 against Kelowna this year. the one loss was a shootout loss in October.

I'm just hoping for a great series. Anything can happen in the playoffs it a whole new season. Not sure if I'm going to make it to tonight's game. My car is in the shop being check out as i type this. I don't think it's anything bad at least that's what i was told on the phone a few minutes ago. If all is ok then I'm heading down to catch some playoff hockey. Until next time see ya

It's a beautiful day

Lets start off with a picture of mine taken this past summer.

So this is a picture of Ashley Force and Kenny Bernstein. This was from the Seattle race in the summer of 2007.If you look closely you see the cars taking off from the starting line. Only a few hundred feet later did Ashley have problems lost control and hit the wall. It really put a scare into the crowd. She did get right out of her car and things were just fine.

I have a new cell phone yahoo. Bought it about two weeks ago. This is something i have wanted to do for sometime now.Nothing fancy but it works for me. I was really tired having a phone that's 5 years old.

Looks like the T-birds will end up playing the Everett Silvertips in the first round of the playoffs. This is the last week of the regular season. Things could change but it most likely not. Home advantage is up for grabs still and will be decided soon as Seattle and Everett play each other twice this week.

Things to watch this week NHRA racing from Florida the Gatornationals. The Nascar Cup series is in Bristol, Tenn and Formula 1 kicks off it season 9pm pacific coast time Saturday in Australia.

First blog and Vacation plans for the summer.

So this is the first blog i have written. I'm not really sure how this will go but I'm going to give it a try. Summer is quickly approaching and it's time to make plans. I was planning on a quick trip to Vegas in April but that was put on hold due to a good friend who just couldn't get the time off work. He decided he wanted to burn himself while working on his car at home. Ok it was a accident but i won't be going to Vegas in April

So now I'm planning a trip to Minnesota this summer to catch the NHRA drag races out there. Will be staying with some friends who live close to the track. Having never visited Minnesota I'm really looking forward to this part of my trip. After my few days in Minnesota I'm heading to Vegas for two or three days. Nothing big planned but just want to visit Sin City before i head over to So-Cal. Once I'm done in Vegas I'll fly over to Los Angeles. Plan on spending about a week between Los Angeles and Del Mar. I'm also looking for to this part of the trip. Del Mar has become my favorite place to visit in the summer. Nothing like sitting at the Horse track with a great breeze and view of the ocean. I just love it down there. I wish i could afford to live there.

I'll be gone for almost two weeks. I have not taken a two week vacation in a couple years. Last time i did something like this it was a blast. That's it for now i hope i can make this a regular deal.
